The following is a letter from Casey Nobile, MSW, RCSWI to Scent Evidence K9 CEO, Paul Coley. Casey is a Medical Social Worker with Lee Physician Group Memory Care.
Paul,
I wanted to share with you an experience I had with the daughter of one of my Memory Disorder Clinic clients earlier this week. I have been working closely with my client, who carries a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease, and her daughter. My client recently began to wander and has had to transition into her daughter’s home until her Medicaid application is approved and a secure memory care unit becomes affordable. I discussed safety planning and interventions with this daughter (who works full time and is also a full time caregiver to one of her granddaughters). I provided her with techniques to redirect wandering and anxious behaviors, but this alone is not enough for my client who tends to wander at all hours of the night.
I gave her one of your Scent Evidence K9 kits, explained its purpose, and demonstrated how to use it. The look on her face when I spoke with her was incredible! She was so excited to receive a Scent Evidence K9 kit and said it gave her a deeper sense of comfort than any of the other interventions we discussed. My client is at high risk for elopement and even with intervention from DCF (Department of Children and Families), she is not able to transition to a long term care facility quite yet. Your product has provided my clients’ daughter a sense of hope that even if the worst happens and she elopes, she is in the best hands to be found safely and brought home. Thank you for what you do day in and day out, it makes more of a difference than I think could ever be expressed!
Regards,
